Q&A

A Go-To on what to do in certan situations outside of your normal teaching duties

Q. What do I do if someone walks in the shop and I am teaching, and there is no one available to help?

A. Best action is to say hello, and say ““Welcome to River Road! I’m currently teaching at the moment, but if I can grab your number, Pat or Finn will give you a call.”
If they don’t want to leave a number, you can provide them with a flyer and direct them to enquire online.

Q. What do I do if someone walks in the shop who wants to buy guitar strings or similar, and I am in the middle of teaching and no one is available?

A1. If a studio assistant/staff member is temporarily away (e.g. bathroom break, shops), let the person know that someone will be back shortly to assist.

A2. If no other staff are available that day:

  • Politely explain that the stock is primarily for students.

  • If they have cash and it’s a quick sale (e.g. standard guitar strings), you may make the transaction.

  • If they need more detailed help (beyond something simple like “which strings are for electric guitar”), take their phone number so we can follow up.

Q. What do I do with their phone number?

A. Write it clearly on a post-it note and leave it on the computer monitor. If possible, also take a photo of the note and text it to Pat for quicker follow-up.

Q. What do I do if a parent wants to make a change to their scheduled time

A. If it is a permanent change, including change of time, day or teacher, its best they email Finn to formally make the change in Udio. If you know you timetable, you may assist with times suggestions, but ultimately they need to email. You should not take verbal instruction, or verbally agree without it first being confirmed by the Studio Coordinator.
